The Guide To Grass League

High-Stakes Par 3 Golf

The Grass League is the world’s first High Stakes Par 3 Golf league, where the excitement of professional sports meets the charm of team-based golf. Here’s everything you need to know to follow and enjoy the action.

How Does The Grass League Work?

What is The Grass League?

The Grass League is a unique golf league where players compete on lighted Par 3 courses in team-based formats. Teams represent regional franchises, creating exciting rivalries and fostering local pride.

Where is it played?

The flagship host site is in Tempe, AZ, but events are hosted in premier venues across the country.

Season Structure

The Grass League season:

Grass League events take place over a season, and a season takes place over a calendar year.

How many events are there?

The number of events will grow each season. At a minimum, there will be 3 events. Linked here is our 2025 season schedule.

What are franchises playing for?

Franchises are playing for a purse. Purses are earned in two different ways:

Event Purse: Each event has a purse that is paid to the franchises of the top-10 teams. Purse amounts will be announced before each event and will always exceed $100k.

Season Purse: Each event will earn franchises points based on their teams’ standings. Franchise standings at the end of the season will determine payouts for the season purse. The franchise with the most points at the end of the season wins the league title. The season purse amount will be announced at the end of the season and is based on total revenue generated by the league.

How Are Teams Built?

Franchises and Teams

Franchise: A regionally based entity, similar to those in other professional sports leagues, that owns the right to roster players and field them in all Grass League events.

Team: A duo of players from a franchise roster who compete together in events.

Rosters:

Each franchise has a roster of 14 players

10 players: Selected by franchise owners.

4 players: Drafted during the Grass League Draft.

The Draft

Who is eligible for the draft?
Teams qualify by competing in the Grass League Qualifier. The Grass League Qualifier is open to anyone who wants to compete. Details here.

How does the draft work?
Franchises select players in a snake-style draft, with draft order determined by a lottery. Each franchise must draft two 2-player teams.

How Do Events Work?

Event Formats

All events are played in a 2-person scramble format, where both players hit from the same spot, choosing the best shot each time.

Events are scored based on Team or Franchise performance, depending on the event:

Team Performance: Standings determined by how individual teams perform.

Franchise Performance: The aggregate scores of all teams from a franchise.

Franchises are eligible to field a certain number of teams in each Grass League event. Not all rostered players will play in every event. Details for the 2025 season found here.
