The 2024 Grass Clippings Open represented the first official Grass League tournament. Hosted at the home of the Grass League in Tempe, Arizona, Grass Clippings Rolling Hills, the GCO welcomed 75 2-person teams, 22 of the teams having qualified.
Many of the teams represented the 10 Grass League franchises, though some were “independent” and played to prove they have what it takes to land on a official franchise roster.
After 36 holes, 4 teams were tied atop the leaderboard, sending play to a winner take all playoff on the fan-surrounded 18th hole. All 4 teams teed off, 3 Minnesota Muskies pairs and 1 representing Phoenix United, and attempted their birdie putts with none finding the cup. That is until the last golfer of the 8 remaining, Drew Kittleson of the Minnesota Muskies, stood over his putt with a chance to convert and win the title.
The rest is history. Drew buried his putt and turned to the crowd to receive a well deserved ovation. The Minnesota Muskies, thanks to Drew Kittleson and Owner Bryan Hoops had secured the first Grass League trophy.
