The 2025 Grass Clippings Open kicked off the Grass League season. 6 2-person teams from each of the 11 Grass League franchises competed for the coveted Grass Clippings Open Trophy.

This was the biggest event in the league’s history, and represented the culmination of what Grass League was building towards. In front of sold out crowds, an extremely talented field full of plus-handicappers, tour winners, and golf personalities faced off under the lights of Grass Clippings Rolling Hills.

22 of the teams were comprised of players who had competed the Wednesday of tournament week in a qualifier before being drafted onto franchises in the inaugural Grass League Draft.

After Day 1, the Dallas Horsemen duo of Brad Dalke and Sean Walsh had the lead at 9-under par with a handful of teams chasing close behind.

In the last stretch of the final round the New York Blue Birds’ Kurt Watkins and Jake Byrum stormed from behind, birdieing the last 4 holes to put the tournament out of reach, going an astonishing 12-under for the day and 19-under for the tournament. With a handful of groups left to play, the 2025 Grass Clippings Open champions could revel in their victory before being called back to the 18th green to hoist the trophy alongside their teammates and ownership.
