The Roster Extension Window
For those new to the League, the roster extension window is the period between the conclusion of the final event, the GL Championship on December 7th, and the end of the calendar year on December 31st. During this time, franchises have the exclusive right to negotiate with players currently on their rosters before free agency opens on January 15th of the following year.
For a league with only two seasons under its belt, the roster extension window is especially critical. The majority of players have been competing on one-year contracts and, without an extension, would become unrestricted free agents the moment free agency opens.
With that said, several impactful extensions were agreed to heading into the 2026 season… while others were not.

Contract Extensions of Note
Not all franchises exercised the opportunity to retain players, but that doesn’t mean they don’t intend to. Some may be using the window as leverage, while others have already agreed to extensions and are simply waiting for the necessary paperwork to be finalized before making an announcement. Regardless, January 15th is expected to spark a frenzy of activity. For now, here’s what we know.
